Emotional Self-Defense: Building Resiliency Through Mindfulness

Tuesday, May 256:30—8:30 PMZoom

Join our presenter, Liz Korabek-Emerson, in this two hour workshop, where you will learn the simple practice of mindfulness which builds the skills of self-awareness, empathy and compassion and forms the foundation of resilience.  This practice of mindfulness is not about getting rid of our thoughts, any more than life is about getting rid of all our challenges.  It is about working with our thoughts and challenges skillfully, seeing them for what they are and being able to use them to respond to our life with choices that support our happiness and well-being, even under difficult conditions.

The workshop will include sitting practice, guided meditation, and discussion.  No experience necessary.  Everyone is welcome.

Some topics we will address:
•    Being with what’s difficult without getting swallowed up
•    Putting things in perspective
•    See the difference between avoidable and unavoidable stress
•    Accepting, adapting, and appreciating change
