Go Native with your Landscaping

Tuesday, June 66:30—8:00 PMProgram Meeting Room

Go Native! Incorporating Native Plans into Your Landscapes
Learn what native plants are and why they are important to add to your landscapes. Photos of native plants appropriate
for various growing conditions will be shown as well as photos of native garden examples. Attendees will learn where to
buy natives and how to use them successfully in their new and existing gardens. Ideas for creating a container native
garden will be discussed. The instructor hopes to inspire the attendees to make small changes in their gardens with
native plants.

Information About the Presenter: Donna Miller
Donna has been passionate about plants and gardening since childhood. She currently grows and sells cut flowers with
her husband Jim at their Canterbury farm, Petals in the Pines. In 2010 she became a Master Gardener and her interests
expanded to encouraging pollinators and native plants. In 2021 she became an Advanced Master Gardener, specializing
in pollinators.

At Petals in the Pines, they have established two meadows, initially by parking the lawnmower in the shed! Additional
native species are planted each year to create a desirable home for pollinators. The farm is certified as a Monarch Way
Station with Monarch Watch, and a Xerces Society certified pollinator habitat--and now they are “On the Map” with
Homegrown National Park. All of these programs support efforts to protect pollinators and native plants.

This program is made possible by the UNH Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau and the Friends of the Moultonborough Library
