Joe Callanan Loon Presentation

Tuesday, May 126:00—7:00 PMProgram Meeting Room

Join Joe Callanan as he presents the story of the first successful hatching of a Loon chick on Berry Bay of Ossipee Lake in 46 years !

Loons spend their winter at the seacoast, then as spring arrives they molt into their beautiful breeding plumage. Next, they migrate back to the lakes where they were born for the purpose of mating and raising new Loons. There is much drama in Loon life as breeding pairs compete for prime locations. There are also predators to cope with and the peak of summer boating season. This makes Loon family life complicated and challenging.
