Open Mic: An Evening of Poetry and Music

Tuesday, July 307:00—9:00 PMProgram Meeting Room

Join us for our monthly open mic night at the library! All writers, poets, and musicians, as well as listeners are invited to the Moultonborough Public Library's Poetry and Music evening events, held this summer in June, July, and August from 7-9pm.

This month's featured artist is storyteller Andy Davis. Andy will be telling a set of stories that include a formative experience at a New Hampshire summer camp in the 1960s, and a timeless afternoon on the savannah of West Africa twenty years later. Prominently featured is his relationship with his identical twin brother.

Andy Davis got his start as a storyteller telling comic tales by candlelight in Mexican refugee camps 30 years ago. His current work weaves together personal narrative, folklore, and grassroots history. He is particularly interested in the timeless human search for meaning and belonging, and in how the stories we give our attention to can help us place ourselves in our time and on the land. Andy lives with his wife, adult
daughter, and their elderly beagle in a little home-made house just down the road in Tamworth.
