Your Garden Can Save the Lake! Practical Storm Water Management

Tuesday, September 236:00—7:30 PMProgram Meeting Room

How does storm water impact our local water resources? What can be done at a residential scale to reduce negative impacts? Join Kat Holden for an introduction to rain gardens and native plants that work for you and our lakes.

Learn how to mitigate storm water run off from your house and land so polluted water doesn’t end up in the lakes. We will tackle how plants filter and trap sediment and nutrients before they enter critical waterways and habitats. Understand how designed landscapes that have features like rain gardens improve water quality. This is a residential scale approach to improving water quality using native plants and thoughtful landscape design.

This presentation is the final session of our 2026 Gardening Lecture Series. See here for a listing of the lectures. Many of the programs were made possible by support of the Friends of the Moultonborough Library, and others by individuals and organizations dedicated to gardening in the region. If you missed any of the lectures and would like to see them presented again next year, please contact library@moultonboroughlibrary.org to let us know.
