What's Wild with Eric Orff

Tuesday, July 157:00—8:00 PMProgram Meeting Room

Join veteran wildlife biologist Eric Orff, who has lived a life on the wild side in New Hampshire, for a presentation of What’s Wild: A Half-Century of Wisdom from the Woods and Rivers of New England at on July 15 at 7pm. The presentation will draw from Eric's recently published book, sharing the same name as the presentation.

From saving thousands of mother bats from certain death by poison, to riding a ten-point whitetail buck, when the "tranquilized" deer lurched to his feet with Eric astride as it thundered downhill at warp speed in the dark of the night. Holding on for DEER life had a whole other meaning!

More than four dozen stories are featured in What's Wild, his first book. Written during his five-decade career as a wildlife biologist in New Hampshire, these wonderful tales of fish and wildlife represent a lifetime filled with adventures in the Wild.  Eric will have copies of the book available for purchase and will be signing copies following his presentation. Visit the author’s website at nhfishandwildlife.com to subscribe to his Facebook pages. Over the last 20 years he has been alerting the citizens of NH to the realities of climate change, as he was faced with the undeniable scientific data of the changes to our ecosystem.

Eric is known for his effective conservation messaging and advocacy—If Only Moose Could Vote—as well as his trademark humor. He voiced thousands of radio PSAs on WOKQ, during his years working for NH Fish and Game, and then as a consultant for the National Wildlife Federation. He’s a member of NH Audubon’s policy council, and the recipient of many awards for his writing and his conservation work.

About the presenter

Author Eric Orff has wanted to be a Forest Ranger ever since he can remember. He graduated from college with a degree in Wildlife Management and launched his childhood dream career as a “Forest ranger who works with animals” in 1976. As a Certified Wildlife Biologist, he spent over thirty-one years with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and another fifteen years with the National Wildlife Federation as a Field Biologist and Consultant. A strong voice for conservation, Eric has spent decades as a popular writer, speaker and now social media personality. His trademark humor and kind heart, coupled with a solid scientific foundation, make him someone people like to listen to when they want to know what’s happening in the woods, rivers, and fields of New England.
