Castle in the Clouds
16-room mansion and 5,500-acre mountaintop estate in Moultonborough, NH, overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains. Designed by Boston architect Thomas Beal for a prosperous shoe manufacturer, the mansion was completed in 1914 and is an unusual example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England. The estate, which includes a stable/garage, a greenhouse, gatehouses, farm buildings and a golf course, was eventually opened to the public after a series of bad investments were made by the owner, and the house and contents auctioned off. Visitors may take a self-guided tour of the house as it was in the early 1900s; visit the Art Gallery, and hike. A gift shop and restaurant are on the premises.

Currier Museum of Art
The Currier Museum of Art, located in Manchester, NH, features European and American paintings, decorative arts, photographs and sculpture. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
The Gardner Museum houses the collection of Isabella Stewart Gardner, a local patron of the arts who died in 1924, in a building she commissioned to look like a 15th century Venetian palazzo. The center of the original building showcases courtyard plantings that reflect the seasons as they evolve throughout the year. In addition to her collection, which remains displayed exactly as she arranged it per her will, there are changing exhibitions, concerts, lectures, family events, and an artist-in-residence program. In 2012, the museum opened an addition designed by Renzo Piano that houses a space for their concert series.

McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, located in Concord, NH, is dedicated to the two astronauts who came from the granite state—Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard. The museum offers a range of permanent and changing exhibits that focus on astronomy, aviation, earth and space science, including full-sized replicas of Mercury 7 and Mercury-Redstone rockets, a 1956 XF8U-3 Crusader jet, and items from Star Trek movies, a planetarium, and an observatory. Mount Washington Auto Road
Originally known as The Mount Washington Carriage Road when it opened in 1861, the Mount Washington Auto Road is the oldest man-made attraction in the United States. Drive it yourself or take a guided tour on the 7.6 miles that ascend to the summit of the tallest peak in the Northeast. During the ascent, visitors experience incredibly steep inclines which take them through four ecological zones. At the summit is the Sherman Adams Visitor Center, which includes a renowned weather station, concessions, and a museum. A variety of tours are offered, so check the website beforehand, as well as for information on closures, and special events.

Mount Washington Observatory
At a staggering 6,288 feet above sea level, the Mount Washington Observatory is a working weather station at the summit of the mountain, known for its extreme weather. Collecting and disseminating weather and climate data is its primary purpose, but visitors can get guided tours of the station given 45 minutes notice. These tours let visitors in on the lives of the climate scientists who work and stay there, including the instruments used to develop forecasts. Visitors need not scale the famous peak to visit its summit, as there are roads and rail lines available to take them there. Once there, the museum is housed in the Sherman Adams Visitor Center, which features a gift shop and concessions. These features are open to the public seasonally, so check the website for details. New Hampshire's state parks have a commitment to accessibility, which includes wheelchair ramps and accessible restrooms, but the terrain is, by nature, rocky.
